es kommt sicherlich nicht alle tage vor, dass die eigene ehefrau einen track remixed. im fall des brandneuen remixes von simina grigoriu für paul kalkbrenner trifft genau das zu. simina, die seit knapp zwei jahren mit paul kalkbrenner verheiratet ist, nimmt sich hier den track >kleines bubu< aus dem 2011er album >icke wieder< vor und macht aus dem original einen gelungenen tech-house track auf basis des bekannten streicher loops. die exzellent gesetzten vocal samples und die markante discobassline geben dem gut gemachten remix eine weitere eigene individuelle note.

datassette aka john davies has been recording music for over a decade, carving out a niche as a respected purveyor of electro and electronica. he has recorded and self-released an impressive discography from cd-r, net-labels and small independents, but it was his album for ai records in 2008 that first brought him to our attention. he has also remixed the likes of röyksopp, mark archer and al tourettes. datassette continues apollos tradition of releasing rich, musical electronica and follows on nicely from classic releases from the likes of robert leiner, biosphere, david morley and andrea parker.

savvy watchers of the throne (of blood) first got acquainted with split secs (the los angeles based duo of alexandre mouracade of sonns fame and west coast house and disco stalwart tk disco) back in december of last year, when they brilliantly remixed waze & odysseys our world. or perhaps it was their incredible work for labels like pacific wizard foundation, jolly jams, or their own machine limited. with the joint ep, they officially join the tob family, and what an entrance!

the deep house is the genre of reference that the author aims to customize in his title track >say what<. it is a ganglion of rhythm and foggy atmospheres where a voice reproduces a sort of rhyme. it is pretty similar to >revenge<, where the loop cyclic effect is preferred to another though, and where the voice (reduced to a sharp tip) pierces the four quarters in place of the snare drum. both tracks are presented in their remixed versions: the first made by julie marghilano and the second by matthew burton.
